You will drill holes for the next 10 years if you want to kill all the trees .... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You will need a cone splitter or drill cone splitter as an attachment for the excavator with a hardened tip. You can then put salt in the hole to finish off the roots. Eucalyptus trees have taproots. Have you tried to remove the trees with the taproot completely from the ground using a powerful excavator or, better yet, a Caterpillar and a chain?

Yes I can relate, every one of our projects takes forever with many trips to the store or waiting for parts on order 😅 Pretty sure not one project goes smoothly however the finished project usually comes out not too shabby 😂

could you try and create some kind of garden space on top of the containers. Would look good and also act as an insulation. Not sure what would be suitable for the climate but something drought tolerant i guess to reduce the need to water much at all. We have a container set up on our property here on the Isle of Skye and we added a Sedum roof. Mostly to blend it in more than insulation right enough

When there is a small pudle of water in a tank micro organisms can create H2S. In my neighberhood in Belgium 3 people died with exactly the same tank as yours. 2cm of water in it. Never enter a closed space without atmosphere controle.

I live in 'Northern' CA and have been to Baja CA three times. In 1980, I flew to Cabo San Lucas, primarily to witness a total solar eclipse there. A friend I worked with in CA had relatives who lived there. In lieu of a fancy hotel dinner, I met him and his family for a beachside BBQ (goat).....which turned out to be a fascinating and truly wonderful experience.....although my Spanish is quite limited. Then, in 2008, at the age of 68, I TWICE rode my motorcycle 400 miles 'down' the Baja Pininsula to visit some friends at Bahia de Los Angeles. Although I never experienced one iota of problems, was quite glad and relieved to be back in the USA. (Because I've heard of some true 'Horror' stories) Most 'prescribed' drugs are 'over the counter' there and I stocked up on what I take at about 1/3 the USA cost. BHE

Most plumbers I've talked to say five circles on plumbers tape is what it takes to get the best seal.

You know about a product called Big Red, it's a liquid rubber used mostly as a membrane for showers before you lay tile. And I'll bet if you can find some, it'll seal your concrete. And then all you need is a three way filter for your house to make sure every drop is clean as it can be. Oh and if Britney edits to vlog, then thanks Britney for the beautiful blue of the beach, and I liked the water too.

You should ask one of your many friends who's an artist to draw a caricature of you and Britney in the shape of two water tanks and paint them on your tanks so people will see the pare of you when they first come down your drive.

Some suggestions from someone who has done this many times over the last 50 or so years: 1: Put the outlet a least 50 mm above the tank floor level so the sediment in the bottom of the tank doesn't go into the outlet. If you then get sediment in your water you know it's time to clean the tank. 2: Drill the hole about 10-15 mm bigger than the OD of the pipe and use a 2 to 1 mortar mix to fill around it (make sure you pack it all the way through). I'd also suggest to use brass fittings as they will last a lot longer, I usually use brass all thread to go into the tank (the external threads also give you a good mechanical bond with the mortar). 3: Put the inlet so you can reach it from the manhole in the top of the tank, and use a ballcock (float valve) with a pressure switch on the pump (ie. when the tank is full it shuts off and the pressure increase in the pipe shuts off the pump). 4: Put an overflow hole in at the top of the tank and screen it (ie. some flywire) to keep the wildlife out for any pumping mishaps. This should keep you trouble free for decades.

In Australia I use Portuguese product Drizoro white with latex to food grade water proof = line my concrete tanks. They are easier to clean over time during maintenance. And Drizoro Plug to fill/plug fittings and sisal fibre + paste to join fittings.

Put the plumbers tape on Clockwise, that way when you thread the fitting on it tightens the tape rather than unravel it.

Drew, you should have assembled the plumbing before gluing it in the holes, So you wouldn't be putting pressure on glue by tightening your plumbing

I've been following you guys since you moved to Portugal and have gotten very fond of you. You guys are so very good together and so lucky to have each other. Thank you for sharing your journey and your personal struggle with us. It meant a lot to me. I suffer from PTSD and have been struggling with that because of my time in the Army. I've spent 2 years in therapy and know how hard it is to overcome personal demons and I am very proud of you for overcoming yours. I ,like you, know that I have made great strides in my own recovery but that it will be with me to some degree for the rest of my life. It's a continues battle that we win, or lose, every day. I hope and pray that you continue to do well. you are so lucky to have Drew there with you to help you along. God bless you both and I wish you both nothing but the best in your new home and life in Portugal. I'll be watching along.

It's not a priority but the tanks are ugly, there's no way around it. I'd paint them white and maybe make a design like the coastal houses with yellow or blue around the "doors" and "windows". You can also try and make them look like windmills

USUAL CONSTRUCTION THE FITTINGS ARE CAST IN OH WELL ,ALSO PLEASE WEAR MASKS SILICOSIS NASTY NASTY ,make the joining hose flexible with shut off valves .that way will only drain one tank at a time when full,amazing what some water around the drill does helps cut faster and no dust and diamond is the one to use not a toothed one not for concrete,usually use a brass fitting with a flange and gasket tighten from each side ,what you are doing would hold the pipe as well when tightening the fittings,made and lived on tank water only for years your roof has enough catchment t to fill tanks there is a formula that you can work out, down fall,x catchment area = litres/gallons per hour,fill those tanks slowly not in one go do by thirds ,gives time to settle and possible leaks appear plus you have yet to fit over low and strainers and possibly a indicator of contents other wise a climb to the top .few tips from the wise ,a coat of silasec on the outside will seal may have another product where you are ,actually works best intemnnaly ,but maybe the drilling of the over flow prior to filling ??
